How to score Gin Rummy
Gin Rummy is a game for two, and every hand goes to one player. Deadwood counts face cards 10, aces 1 and number cards their value; a player may knock with 10 or less. A knocker with less deadwood than the opponent scores the difference; going gin (no deadwood) scores the opponent’s deadwood plus a bonus of 20 or 25, and an opponent with equal or less deadwood undercuts the knocker for the difference plus 10 or 25, as your table counts. Add a row for every hand and enter the points for the player who won it; the first to 100 wins the game, and the end bonuses (100 for the game, 20 or 25 per hand won, doubled when the loser scored nothing) fit in a last row if you count them. Three play with the dealer sitting out, four as two partnerships to 125.
